about

What's this?
This album is a musical addendum to "Orpion, the mook*", a one-time combination of a book and a magazine in PDF-format, in which more than 60 creative and talented people from 13½ different countries have come together to showcase their passion for collaborative work. "Orpion, the mook*" is the first 'Peer' project (www.depeerwebsite.nl) to see the light.

The result?
An amazingly beautiful bundle of 13 surrealistic short stories, spread out over more then 100 pages of rich and full page art / designs by a team of photographers, illustrators, designers, painters and artists in general. Plus 13 eclectic tracks and songs with a total playing time of almost 60 minutes, created by an even amount of (unsigned) bands and musicians, accompanying both story and visual representation.

The idea?
Phase 1: Narrative artistry.
(Writers write their weird little stories.)

Phase 2: Musical artistry.
(Musicians and bands make their quaint little music, each song inspired by one of those strange little stories.)

Phase 3: Visual artistry.
(A venturesome variety of visual artists take to their odd little canvases, computers and/or cameras, inspired by a paired story and song.)

Non-profit?
Yes, no profit is to be made. There’s no pay or money involved for participating parties. No sponsors, no adds, no nothing. All (additional) benefits or financial bonusses will be reinvested in this or other projects and won't be used for personal gain in any way.

(*) A combination of a book and a magazine.

The cover art for this music addendum is based on the original art / design made for "Orpion, the mook*" by Karel Millenaar. The adaptation of his original work was created and expanded on by René Dijk.

This mook* was originally intended to be (physically) released around Christmas 2009. Due to unforeseen circumstances an actual tangible printed product sadly never came to be. Now, in 2011, through 'Peer' and Bandcamp, this project has finally been made available, for free!
